June 2010

June was a busy month for us.  Addie finished up 1st grade at the beginning of the month.  It was a great last week of school for her.  She had a field trip to Dutch Village up in Holland MI. She liked learning all about Holland.  Then she had a book open house at school were she was able to show off to her family books that her class had written through out the year as well as show us that she knows all the state capitals.

After school was done she ready for summer to begin.  She started swimming lessons right away and they continued through the rest of the summer.  She also signed up for soccer camp.  That was a great week for her.  She loved learning all sorts of new skills and tricks.  She also got into the wacky dress day!  One day the local newspaper came out and took pictures of the kids at camp.  Addie made the front page of the paper! 

We spent Father's Day at the beach having fun as a family.  This year we didn't get to spend to much time there because it seemed like every day was a red flag day.  I know we could have hung out on the beach, but it is just to tempting for the kids when they can see the water. 

By the end of June Michael (w/ the girl's help) had finished adding the pickets to the fence.  The garden grew and grew!  Michael also wanted me to show off my first attempt at making Chicago style pizza from scratch.  It did turn out well.  The only problem is that it takes FOREVER to make.  Then it is gone in heartbeat :)

We decided to sell the Vibe in May as well as to have a large garage sale.  Both things took a lot of time but not really photo worthy.  However, both were successful.  It took us a while but we did find a buyer for the car. 

Addie was busy with soccer this spring. She enjoyed it like always.  Michael was able to finish restoring an old guitar that had been working on for a long time.  It had been trashed with big crack in the back, textured painted and then painted purple on top of that. 

The best thing in May was going to the Mother's Day Suiter cookout.  It was the first non-wedding event in years that almost everyone one of us was there. It was great being able to really visit with everyone and letting the girls play with Brock (the only other great grandchild who is not an infant).

Post-Easter April 2010

Margaret eventually got better health wise. It seemed like it took forever to get past that nasty virus she had.  But as the weather got better so did she.  Spring came extra early so we took advantage of it.  The girls enjoyed playing in the sun, Michael got a head start on finishing the fence around the garden, and I was able to get a little earlier start in my garden.

We also had the joy of celebrating my nephew Brennan's Baptism.  Michael and I are thrilled to be his Godparents.  It just gives us one more good reason to spoil him :)
 

Year in Review

Michael and I decided that since we have been slacking on posting family updates we would make it up to you before the end of the year.  So we have decided to do a year in review starting with just after Easter since that is were we stopped and take you through Right before Christmas.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

We have had a busy but joyous Christmas at the Lah house.  The girls and I started Christmas a little early by going to Indiana to see family starting on Monday and Michael joined up on Wednesday.  It was great seeing everyone before we headed back north to be at our house for Christmas. 

Christmas Eve we went to Mass and when we got home we found that Santa had already made it to our house.  Addie had fun finding all her surprises.  Margaret on the other hand wanted nothing to do with it.  So in the morning she was so surprised to see that Santa had been there and had a lot of fun digging into the presents.  Silly goose!

We spent to the day playing, being silly, hiding in the new tree tent and eating yummy food (thanks Michael!).  It was a great way to spend the day.  Tomorrow we are going to continue to celebrate by going to a local camp that has snow tubing, cross country skiing, and a warm lodge w/ hot chocolate.  We also promised the girls we could play even more of their new games tomorrow night.  So far they both love to play the Avalanche game and the "I can do that!" Cat in the Hat Game.  I'm sure it will be another fun day before Michael heads back to work on Monday morning.
