September 2010

September 2010

Right before school started we had a big birthday surprise for Addie.  We surprised her with an early birthday present.  We gave her the American Girl Kit doll with matching Birthday dresses.  Along with it came a trip to Chicago the next day.  We took the train into the city and went to the AG store and the Hancock tower.  And of course she wanted a deep dish pizza for her birthday!  After that she was ready to leave the city so she could go home and play with her new goodies. :)

School started (and has stayed) well.  Addie really likes her teacher and her classmates.  This year they broke the 2nd grade into three classes of 18 kids each.  It is so nice having the smaller classes again.

At the end of September Margaret stayed at the farm and helped with harvest while Addie, Michael and I went to Arkansas for a long weekend.  We went to the Brothers and Sisters of Charity's National Gathering.  It was a great weekend that we all enjoyed.  Michael has already marked off his vacation time for next year.

August 2010

August 2010

August slowed down a little for us.  Thank goodness!  We stared the month of by going to the Kalamazoo Children's musuem as well as the Air Zoo.  The kids loved the big air musuem!  There was lots of neat exhibits for them and all their friends that wen with us.

Addie's favorite event of the year happened this month.  World Pulse Festival.  It is a huge concert in South Bend that has 5 or more christian artists and lasts all day. This year the weather was right and Margaret was old enough so we decided to all go as a family for the first time.  Everyone had a blast and tuckered out after a long day of fun.

July 2010

July 2010
What an exciting month!  We started off the month by going up to the U.P. over the 4th of July week.  We had a great time.  While fishing Ben proposed to Becky with Margaret in their fishing boat.  Everyone was so excited.

The girls and I made it home to the airport festival at the Kentland airport.  Addie was able to have her first hot air balloon ride.  We were actually up when the sunset happened.  It was neat to see from the sky.  The girls loved sit with papa and pretending to fly his plane.

Addie lost both her front teeth right before sweet corn season.  But don't worry, it did not slow her down a bit!

We finished the month by buying a new (to us) car at the end of the month.  It is a V50 Volvo wagon.  It great to have a car again!
